The Wilkes Company and other property owners in NoMa (north of Massachusetts Avenue) contributed to the construction of a new Metro station at New York Avenue. The station, on the popular Red Line, is now open, and a mixed-use development at 300 M Street – a short walk from the M Street entrance to the station – is currently being designed by Beyer Blinder Belle. The 525,000 square foot development will include ground-floor retail, loft-style residences above, and office space for the headquarters of a non-profit organization, government agency or trade association.
