CHARLES C. WILKES
Chairman

Charles C. (Sandy) Wilkes is Chairman of The Wilkes Company. He founded the company in 1980
after practicing land use and zoning law in the Washington, DC office of Linowes and Blocher.

Mr. Wilkes is a trustee of the Federal City Council, a founding member of the Downtown Developer Roundtable, a member of the Economic Development Committee of the Mayor’s Business Roundtable,
and a member of the Urban Land Institute. He is a founding director and Treasurer of the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District, an organizing director and Vice President of the NoMA Business Improvement District, a member of the Downtown Retail Incentive Review Panel, and a member of the Center City Action Agenda 2006 Task Force. He is President of The Washington Children’s Foundation and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Over the years, Mr. Wilkes has been a consultant or advisor to a host of non-profit groups on real estate matters, including Arena Stage, The Methodist Home of the District of Columbia, The Gospel Mission, The Archdiocese of Washington, and Family and Child Services of Washington, D.C., Inc.

While attending law school in the evenings, Mr. Wilkes served as legislative assistant to the District of Columbia City Council and subsequently as staff director of the City Council Special Advisory Commission on Industrial and Commercial Development. This blue ribbon commission established the first blueprint for economic development in Washington, DC and recommended the creation of the city’s Office of Business and Economic Development. Mr. Wilkes has been a guest lecturer at several Washington, DC universities on land use, planning and development issues.

In 2005, Mr. Wilkes received the Citizenship Award from Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and the President’s Award from Family and Child Services of Washington, D.C., Inc.

Mr. Wilkes is a graduate of Georgetown Preparatory School, Amherst College and The American University Law School. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Wilkes’s wife, Helen, is a registered historic preservation architect in private practice. They have three daughters.

BERKELEY M. SHERVIN
President

Berkeley M. Shervin is a partner and President of The Wilkes Company and has been actively engaged in commercial real estate development for the past twenty-five years. He has also served as chief operating officer of a number of The Wilkes Company subsidiaries, including Washington Archives and the company’s self-storage holdings. Mr. Shervin is a director of the District of Columbia Building Industry Association and has served as an adviser, trustee or consultant on investments, finance, accounting, tax and real estate matters for numerous organizations including The Methodist Home of the District of Columbia and Washington Real Estate Investment Trust.

Mr. Shervin is a graduate of St. Stephen’s School in Alexandria, Virginia and The American University.
Mr. Shervin’s wife, Cheri, is an audiologist. They have four children.
